August 9, 2010The Miles by Discover Card is a travel rewards card that offers card members a low introductory rate on both purchases and balance transfers. The card allows you to travel with no restrictions and even earn bonus miles each month you use the card. There is no annual fee and this card is designed for those with good to excellent credit.

Introductory Rates and Offers
The Miles by Discover Card is a travel rewards card that offers an introductory rate of 0% for the first six months on all purchases and balance transfers. In order to take advantage of the 0% on balance transfers you have to make the balance transfer request with your application. Requests that are not submitted with your application may not be honored. After the introductory period the variable rate is between 8.74% and 15.74% plus the prime rate. Your rate is determined by your creditworthiness. The rate can change monthly based on changes to the prime rate.
Miles Rewards Program
The miles card allow you to earn miles on all your purchases. You can earn 2 miles for every dollar spend on your first $3,000 in combined travel and restaurant purchases each year. For all purchases over the $3000 mark you will earn 1 Mile for each dollar you spend. The miles you earn have no expiration date, but keep in mind if your account is closed for any reason or inactive for 18 consecutive months or if you fail to make the minimum payment by the due date for two consecutive billing periods, your Miles will be forfeited. As a bonus offer you can earn 1,000 Bonus Miles each month you make a purchase for 12 months. There is a cap of 12,000 Bonus Miles. This promotional offer is in addition to the Standard Miles earned on purchases. Your Promotional Miles will be applied within 8 weeks.
Redeeming Your Points
You get to choose how you want to redeem your points. Once you have 1,000 points you can choose to redeem them for gift cards with over 90 brand named partners to choose from. You can cash them in for $25 Discover gift cards once you hit 5,000 miles or you can make charitable donations with your earned points. You get $100 travel credit towards travel purchases starting at 10,000 points.
